Suoureyri, Iceland

This remote fishing village was isolated by high mountains until 1996 when a one-lane tunnel was built. Prior to the tunnel, a rough road over the mountains or by sea was the only option. The tunnel allows easy access but going through a one way tunnel is weird. If you have a pull-out on your side, you must pull out when an oncoming car gets close to you. Upon exiting the tunnel, you are in the scenic Sugandafjordur fjord, quickly dropping down to the water and town. This is a good side trip off the Ring Road 2.
