Caribbean Travel
This is Grenada's capital and one of the most scenic cities in the Caribbean. The buildings are colorful, the topography is green and mountainous, and the horseshoe shaped waterfronts are easy walks. Yachters from around the world dock in the busy harbor of Carenage. You can watch wooden boats load and unload or browse for fresh seashells your cruise ship will confiscate. Attractions in town are too numerous to list but include the Sendall Tunnel which joins the Carenage to the Esplanade, the Grenada National Museum, the Market Square, the Bay Gardens, and the following forts and beaches:
St. George's Town
Grand Anse is Grenada's most famous beach, with perfect sand and lined with palm trees. Water taxi will take you from Carenage or just take a quick taxi ride. Numerous activities are offered and vendors are everywhere trying to get you to buy a chair and drink. The street behind the beach offers many restaurants and shops.
Grand Anse Beach
The most up-close views and best pictures of the city are from Fort George, built by the French in 1705. Local tours are offered by local guides but you can skip the tour if you wish. The fort is the oldest in the city, built right in town along the water to protect the harbor.
Fort George
For the best view in St. George at minimal cost, take a taxi up to Fort Frederick, visible on the mountain top from anywhere in town. The French began construction of Fort Frederick in 1779 with the British completing it in 1791. The ridge top offers views down in every direction. It's cannons faced inland and out to see incase there was a land or water attack.

One bay south of Grand Anse, Morne Rouge Bay is a quieter alternative to Grand Anse Beach. With a crescent shape, green tropical foliage, safe swimming and beautiful white sand, this beach stands out as one of the best.
Morne Rouge Bay
Grenada is know for underwater sculpture parks. These sculptures are placed not too deep so you can enjoy them on snorkel boat trips. The most popular is a short drive north of St. George's at Moliniere Bay. The submerged structures also serve as an artificial reef in a marine protected area. You'll see divers, snorkelers, and glass bottom boat passengers admiring them, but you really need to be down with the sculptures to enjoy them. A good water visibility is best but hard to count on.

Located on the northeastern shore, Levera National Park has dramatic scenery with cliff walls, views of Sugar Loaf (Levera Island) and other islands off in the distance.
