Smuggler Cove on the Sechelt Peninsula is a small, scenic grouping of coves with a maze of inlets and rockfaces to explore. The cove provides protection for sailboats visiting the area. It is unlikely you wont find boats anchored there during the summer months. If you don't have a boat, a hiking trail accesses Smuggler Cove. Shooting some dramatic pictures here isn't hard, the area is fantastic for photography. The hike is 1 km (0.6 miles) on easy terrain and boardwalks. The hike takes you past several beaver ponds and dams. Nice boardwalks have been constructed to make the going easy in the wetland areas. Along with hiking, fishing, kayaking and picnicking, you can do some backcountry camping here as well. At the cove are 5 campsites. These walk-in sites are accessible year round on first come basis.

Don't be confused by reports about a 4 km hike. This is if you hike from the parking area off Highway 101. Instead, look for the Smuggler Cove sign that points to Brooks Road off Hwy 101 halfway between Secret Cove and Halfmoon Bay. Follow Brooks Road 2.1 miles staying on the main road and you should find the trailhead on the right.
