Bryan Peak & Kaza Mountain Views
Bowron Lakes Climbing
Distance: 4+ miles up Bryan Peak
Summit Elevation: Approximately 8,920 feet
Elevation Gain: 5,000 feet
Time: 6-8 hours for Bryan Peak
These are pictures from Bryan Peak in the Mowdish Range inside the Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit. They were emailed to me by Seth Thomas as we tried to share information about climbing in the park. On Bryan Peak in 2014, they found a old unlabeled whiskey bottle but no cairn or register. Very little information is online so I thought I would post his pictures here for anyone considering doing some scrambling and climbing in the area. Also, Seth thinks the best possibility to scaling Kaza Peak would be going directly from campsite 37 on Lanezi Lake. "You could climb north up the broadside of the face and hit the ridge around the treeline. It's really cool climbing up that far because the landscape is different once you get close to the top. Apparently during the last ice age the glaciers filled up the whole area except for the very tops of the mountains about 8,800 or higher. After this the rocks are jagged and don't appear to be as scoured and buried in fill. This makes for fun scrambling."
They made it!
